Vytautas Magnus University

Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) is a public university in Kaunas, Lithuania, with roots going back to 1922, when it was founded as the country's national university during the interwar years. Bearing the name of Vytautas the Great, one of Lithuania's most celebrated rulers, the university quickly became a centre of Lithuanian culture, science and national identity. After being shut down during the Soviet period, it was restored in 1989 and has since returned to its founding mission of open thinking and academic freedom. Today, VMU is the largest university in Kaunas and is recognised as the most international and broadest-scope university in Lithuania. Following a liberal arts model, it lets students combine subjects across the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, informatics, arts, agriculture and education, with around 40 bachelor's and master's programmes taught in English. Ranked 741–750 in the QS World University Rankings and leading all Lithuanian universities for international students and staff, VMU works with more than 600 partner universities in 75 countries and is a member of the Transform4Europe alliance. Its flexible, student-focused approach helps graduates build both professional skills and a global outlook.

Ranked 741-750 in the QS World University Rankings and 2nd among Lithuanian universities by total score. VMU is Lithuania's top-ranked university for international students, international student diversity and international faculty.
