About University of the Algarve
The University of the Algarve (UAlg) was founded on 16 January 1979 and is a public university in the southernmost region of mainland Portugal. Its headquarters and two campuses, Gambelas and Penha, are in Faro, and a third campus is in Portimao. It has about 10,000 students and is part of the SEA-EU European University of the Seas alliance. For 2026/27 it offered 326 places on 41 undergraduate programmes to non-EU applicants, with annual tuition of EUR 1,750 to EUR 4,500, payable in up to 10 monthly instalments.
