About University of Liverpool International College
The University of Liverpool International College (UoLIC) is a pathway college that prepares international students for degrees at the University of Liverpool, a Russell Group university. It is run in partnership with Kaplan International Pathways through Kaplan Liverpool Limited, and Kaplan handles admissions, teaching and student services. The college opened in 2007 with 146 students; in its first decade more than 6,500 students from almost 100 nationalities studied there. In January 2020 it moved into a 35 million pound building in Paddington Village, in Liverpool's Knowledge Quarter, developed by the University and Kaplan with teaching space and residential accommodation for 900 students. It offers Foundation Certificates in Business, Law and Social Sciences and in Science and Engineering for first-year undergraduate entry, and Pre-Master's programmes in Business, Economics and Finance, Law and Social Sciences, and Science and Engineering. Courses run over 2 to 3.5 terms, with September and October starts and internship versions of several routes. Classes are small, with about 20 hours of teaching a week, academic English and one-to-one learning support. Students who pass at the required level with good attendance progress to their chosen Liverpool degree; in 2025, 98% of students who passed at the required level received an unconditional offer.
Rankings & Recognition
As a pathway college it is not ranked itself; its partner, the University of Liverpool, is ranked #147 in the QS World University Rankings 2026 and #139 in QS 2027.
