About University of Law (Nottingham)
The University of Law (ULaw) Nottingham is a stand-alone city-centre campus at 1 Royal Standard Place, in the business district next to Nottingham Castle and close to many of the city's law firms. ULaw announced the site in 2018 for teaching from September 2019, and the building was planned as a tech hub for legal technology courses. Unlike ULaw's partnership sites, Nottingham teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate law. The three-year LLB (Hons) Law runs here full time, with a blended Law with Foundation Year option, and postgraduates can take the Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL) full time or part time at weekends, or the LLM Legal Practice (SQE1 and SQE2). ULaw says over 90% of its law lecturers are qualified lawyers. The building has a library, computer suites, a silent study area, a student kitchen, laptop loans, bike storage and a retro gaming arcade. ULaw, which traces its roots to 1876 and was created as the College of Law in 1962, became a university in 2012 and reported about 19,700 students across all sites in 2024/25. Nottingham has an award-winning public transport network and theatres, pubs and restaurants within walking distance of the campus.
