About University of Law (Birmingham)
The University of Law Birmingham is the West Midlands campus of The University of Law (ULaw), a private specialist university owned by Global University Systems. ULaw began as the tutorial firm Gibson and Weldon in 1876, merged with the Law Society's school to form the College of Law in 1962, and became the UK's first for-profit institution with university title in 2012; it opened a Business School in 2016. The Birmingham campus is at 133 Great Hampton Street in the Jewellery Quarter, a short walk from Birmingham Snow Hill station and the city centre. Birmingham is the UK's second largest city and has one of the largest concentrations of law firms outside London. Unlike some ULaw sites, Birmingham teaches both law and business: the LLB (Hons) Law and Law with Foundation Year, BSc (Hons) Business Management, MSc Strategic Business Management, the MA Law (Conversion), LLM Legal Practice (SQE1&2) and the Bar Practice Course. It is also one of three ULaw campuses offering the LLB and BPC by evening or weekend study. The building has a mock courtroom fitted with real court furniture. ULaw received TEF 2023 Silver overall and ranked in the UK top 10 for teaching in the NSS 2024.
