About University of Edinburgh Online
University of Edinburgh Online refers to the fully online postgraduate taught programmes of the University of Edinburgh, the Scottish university founded in 1583. The university describes this as one of the largest selections of online postgraduate taught programmes in the UK, and its degree finder lists 41 online programmes. Over 10,000 students and graduates from more than 180 countries have enrolled. Programmes are delivered entirely online, so students do not need to come to Edinburgh, and most require about 10 to 20 hours of study a week, with recorded lectures and few fixed-time sessions. Awards include master's degrees such as the MSc, LLM, MBA, MPH and ChM (180 credits over 3 to 6 years), postgraduate diplomas (120 credits, 2 to 4 years), postgraduate certificates (60 credits, 1 to 2 years) and short postgraduate professional development courses. All programmes offer part-time study, many allow part-time intermittent study paid course by course, and a few, such as Applied Data Science, can be studied full-time in one year. Subjects range from data science, surgery and clinical education to veterinary topics, history, law and business. The degrees are academically equivalent to on-campus awards and the certificate does not mention online study. Online students keep access to the Careers Service for two years after graduating.
