About Tongji University
Tongji University was founded in Shanghai in 1907 as the Tongji German Medical School and keeps strong links with Germany. It is a public research university under the Ministry of Education and part of Project 985, Project 211 and the Double First-Class initiative. Tongji ranks first in the world for civil engineering and is also strong in architecture, urban planning, environmental and transportation engineering. Its main Siping Road campus is in Yangpu, with another large campus in Jiading.
