About Laval University

Universite Laval was founded in 1852 and traces its roots to the Seminaire de Quebec of 1663, making it the oldest French-language university in North America. It is a U15 research university in Quebec City with about 43,000-47,000 students, 17 faculties and around 500 programmes, and more than 1,600 research professors. Most teaching is in French, so international students usually need a French test (TCF). Its campus in Sainte-Foy has 30+ buildings linked by 10 km of underground walkways. Alumni include Prime Ministers Louis St. Laurent, Brian Mulroney and Jean Chretien.
