About Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University
Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University (Ahmet Yesevi University) was founded in 1991 and reorganised under a 1992 intergovernmental agreement between Kazakhstan and Turkey; it was the first university in Kazakhstan to receive international status. It is based in Turkistan in southern Kazakhstan and is named after the 12th-century Sufi poet Khoja Akhmet Yassawi. It has 10 faculties, a graduate school of public management and economics and 6 research institutes, with about 140 programmes from bachelor's to doctoral and medical residency level.
